Northern Shire
Market towns: Allinge - Sandvig, Hasle.
Parishes: Hasle market town Countrydistrict, Klemensker, Rutsker, Olsker, Rø.
Bornholm Northern Shire includes the coast from Baggeås mouth in the west, around Hammeren to Salene cove on the northern coast. Inside the island it reaches Årsballe.
The area of the shire is 15137 ha.
Northern shire combined with Vestern shire makes Bornholms Vestern deanery with in total 10 parishes.
The Shire was in the Middle Ages called Hasle shire (1335 Hasleheret, 1530 Noreheritt, 1572 Nørre Herrit).
Allinge- Sandvig: The market towns Allinge - Sandvig is placed in Northern shire at 55° 16' 33" n.br. og 14° 48' 19" ø.l. Grw.calculated from the western end of Allinge church. Histori: Allinge (1392 Aland, 1569 Alende; supposedly a derivation of the name of the name of tree Al , >> El << ). Sandvig ( 1416 Sandewik, 1434 Sandwig ) a name that without an doubt referes to the sandy cove where the town is placed. The prefect Urne 1756 speaks of a legdend. According to this the town schould originaly have been placed close to Salomons kapel until it was mooved after a fire. The town have been a fisching village up until now. Especially in the Middle Agdes it played a significant roll in the german “hansestæders” in the catch of herring. As all the other towns Allinge - Sandvig suffered a lot during the plague 1618 og 1654, where respectively 126 and 102 people died. They have always been small towns. In 1769 there where 303 in Allinge and in Sandvig 218 inhabitants. In the 1800 the numbers grows until the graniteworks was build in 1891.

Olsker: Surraunded by the Baltic Sea, Rø Parish , Rutsker højlyng, Klemensker parish and Rutsker parish and Allinge - Sandvig market towns. To the North East the parish have an intended but not steap rocky coast, which at Tejn forms a cove which have made it possible to build a harbor. In the parich was in 1691 1 proprietærgård (large farmer), 35 selvejergårde (farmer) og 6 vornedegårde (farmer). In 1893 there where 54 farms, 181 houses, on 4431 tdr. land. (= 6039 acres)

Rutsker: Surraunded by Allinge - Sandvig market towns, Olsker og Klemensker parish og Hasle marked town and to the west the Baltics Sea, along a 6½ km. Coast line from Hasle until 500 m. north of the harbour in Vang. An enclave, Rutsker heather with Rutsker plantation, the parish part of the joint heather, lies isolated to the East surraunded by Olsker, Rø abd Klemensker parish. The Southern coast line from Hasle to the small restaurent Ginesminde is elevated cliff, which in nice green curves rises from a much stony beach with the small harbors Helligpeder og Teglkaas. In the parish was in 1691 18 selvejergårde (farms) and 8 vornedegårde (farms) and in 1893 there was 55 farms and 210 houses, på 4639 tdr. land. (= 6323 acres)

Hasle Town: lies in Nørre shire at 55° 11' 05" n.br. og 14° 04' 36" ø.l. for Grw. Calculatet from the western part of the church. Historie: ( 1149 Haslæheret, 1555 Hasle, Hassel; very likely old danish Hasli, >> Hassel lund << ) (Hassel = hazel). The town is a very old town in Nørre shire allredy in 1335 it was called Haslæheret, but hwen it became a market town is not known. It is mentioned as such in 1555. In 1499 is only Åkirkeby, Rønne og Neksø mentioned as market towns. Most likely it started as a fisching place. In the early 1400 it grew so a church could be built there. It has always been a small town suffering under the nearby Rønne. During the regime of Chr. IV ther was spoken in 1624 about taking away the market town privilege on the ground of its size. As all the other towns on Bornholm Hasle suffered during the plague in 1618 and 1654, when respectively 138 and 131 inhabitants died. In 1658 the town had about 60 inhabitants. Active fishermen and businessmen made the town attractive and the town was known for its veery good potatos and carrots ( the town has still a street named ”Gulerodsgade” = carrot street. After a time as a poor miserable small town Hasle got in1889 an improvement as the “Hasle Klinker” factory was built. In 1893 the town had 20 streets and about 200 buildings.
Hasle Landdistrikt: Is surrounded by Hasle, Klemensker parish og Vester shire ( Nyker parish ), It axists of a 2½ km. wide sandy coast from the southern part of Hasle market town to the and of the stream called Baggeå. It goes about 1 km. indland. The area former called Klemensker strandmark, was about 1860 separated from Klemensker parich.

Klemensker: Klemensker is the only parish on Bornholmske that does not have access to the see because the coast between Bagge å and Hasle market town, which originally belonged to Klemensker, from about 1860 is separated and is now Hasle market town land district. The parish is surrounded by Hasle market town, Rutsker and Olsker parish, Rutsker Plantation, Rø parich, Øster shire ( Østerlarsker parish ) and Vester shire ( Nyker plantation, Vestermarie og Nyker parish). In the parish was in 1691 2 proprietærgårde (large farmers), 69 selvejergårde (farmers) og 15 vornedegårde (farmers) and in 1893 there was 159 farms, 255 houses, on 11245 tdr. land. (= 15327 acres)

Rø: Is surrounded by Øster shire ( Østerlarsker parish along Bobbe Å), Klemensker parish, Rutsker Højlyng, Olsker parish and to the northeast by the Baltic Sea. The coast line which is about 6½ km.is one of the most alternating and scenery on the whole island. There are much forrest in the parish. The big Rø plantation along with the many private forests. In the parish was in 1691 27 selvejergårde (farmers) og 9 vornedegårde (farmers) and in 1893 there was 36 farms, 112 houses on 4379 tdr. land. (= 5969 acres)
